Kendrick used a suffocating defense to take charge early and trounced Jackson in the Region 2-3A semifinals, 78-35, Thursday night at the Kendrick gym.
Lady Cherokees coach Sterling Hicks was subdued after the victory over the Red Devils, however.
"We won because we scored more points than they did," Hicks said after the contest. "But we did run our transition offense well.
"It wasn't as smooth as I would have liked, but we haven't played all week, and it was good to play someone besides ourselves in practice."
The Lady Cherokees, who are 25-1, forced 25 turnovers in the first half alone and grabbed a 22-10 first-quarter lead.
They scored the first eight points of the game -- all off Jackson turnovers.
Kendrick will now play Peach County in the region finals Friday night at 7:30. Jackson will play Central-Macon in the consolation at 6:00 pm.
Peach County got the berth in the finals with a 70-55 win over Central-Macon in the first game.
Hicks is expecting a tough game in the finals.
"We played them twice and won by four points there and five points at our place, so I know it will be tough." Hicks said.
Four Cherokees were in double figures led by Brittany Thompson with 15. Raven Baker added 12. Destiny Murphy and Jabreia Burston added 10 points apiece.
Jackson's Cherika Pye led scoring with10 for the Red
Devils before fouling out of the contest.
The win also clinched a home playoff game for Kendrick in next week's state playoffs.
