Peach County's Nausia Woolfolk scored and passed her team to a 78-73 victory over top-seeded Kendrick in the Region 2-3A championship game Friday night at the Kendrick gym.
Woolfolk scored 28 points and had nine assists, mostly to Alexia Green, who scored all 10 points of her points in the second half. It was the first win of the year for Peach County, now 24-2, who had lost their previous two meetings with Kendrick, which stands 25-2 on the year.
Kendrick's Destiny Murph scored 22 and Jabreia Burston added 19.
Jackson upset Central in the consolation, 56-51, to get the third seed from the region.
In the first quarter, Kendrick's defense was tight and the Lady Cherokees enjoyed a seven-point lead, 20-13, but the Lady Trojans used a press of their own to close the gap at the half to 39-35.
The Lady Trojans grabbed their first lead of the game as they scored the first six points of the third quarter for a 41-39 lead. It seemed to inspire the Lady Trojans as they attacked the basket and outscored Kendrick with a 16-5 run that made Kendrick play catch-up from an 11-point deficit.
They were unable to do that.
Kendrick will host either Josey or Hephzibah in the state playoffs on Tuesday.
