Northside tops Hardaway at home

Northside returned the favor to Hardaway on Friday, winning 9-3 at home to offset its loss to the Hawks on Thursday.

Drew Haywood pitched a complete game to get the win for the Patriots, who also tallied 12 hits in the game.

Northside’s Alex Royal went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Chantler Valero went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, Kenny Harrell went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI and Dalton Bradford went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

Hunter Duke and Ryan Anderson drove in Hardaway’s runs.

Hardaway hosts Lee County on Monday. Northside travesl to Harris County on Tuesday.

LaGrange 6, Columbus 5

Columbus got a first-inning grand slam from Gage Dempsey to briefly take a lead, but fell 6-5 to LaGrange for its first loss of the season.

The Blue Devils committed three errors and allowed four unearned runs in the game. Blake Hicks added a double and Jack Copley went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. They are 8-1 on the season and 2-1 in Region 1-5A play.

Harris County 9, Shaw 4

Harris County topped Shaw 9-4 on Friday in Hamilton, picking up three RBIs from Jansen Hicks and two each from Harry Rich and Tanner Maley.

Ross McKibben got the win on the mound for the Tigers, who improved to 2-1 in Region 1-5A play. Shaw falls to 0-3 in the region.

Glenwood 5, Faith Academy 1

The Gators got a complete-game, one-hit effort on the mound from pitcher Daniel Holly en route to a 5-1 victory over Faith Academy on Friday at home.

Holly allowed just one hit and struck out 15 batters over the course of seven innings. Glenwood also got a solo home run from Tyler Cadenhead, and two hits, a double and an RBI from Carson Hicks in the win.

Despite two hits each from Jon Jon Brown, Cody Russell and Tyler Hostilo, the Calvary Christian baseball team lost 10-1 to Edgewood Academy on Friday at Golden Park.

After falling behind 10-0, Calvary avoided the shutout with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Brown was 2-for-4 with a double. Hostillo was 2-for-3 and also had a double.

After splitting its doubleheader on Friday, Calvary Christian is 9-3.

The Warriors were led by Austin Slaten, who had a double and two RBIs, Matt Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and pitcher Anthony Ward, who pitched six innings, allowed two hits and an earned run and striking out 11.

Russell County hosts Manchester for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Saturday. Later in the day, the Warriors will host Andulusia for a doubleheader at 5:30 p.m.
