Jalen Latta spread five hits over seven innings Wednesday as Northside shut out Shaw 2-0.
Alex Royal and Seth Shadix each had two hits for Northside. Shadix and Drew Haywood drove in the Patriots’ runs.
Andrew Tillery, who took the loss, went 2-for-3 for Shaw.

Gage Dempsey went 2-for-3 with a triple and drove in three runs Wednesday to lead Columbus to a 6-5 come-from-behind win over East Coweta.
East Coweta took a 4-2 lead in the top of the second before the Blue Devils responded with two runs in the fourth inning and single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Jackson Mellenberg homered for Columbus.

Central splits two games
Central defeated Sylacauga 7-1 and then lost to Lake Hamilton 9-4 Wednesday in the Gulf Shores Tournament at Spanish Fort, Ala.
In Game 1, Noah Wilkes allowed one run on two hits and struck out seven in six innings to pick up the win against Sylacauga. Jermond Williams went 3-for-3 and scored two runs. Tanner Belcher hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning to put Central up 6-0.
In Game 2, Lake Hamilton scored five runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the game 5-1. The teams exchanged runs late in the game. Dayton Edmonds took the loss for Central.
