Hardaway 6,

Harris County 5

Hardaway scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Harris County 6-5 on Monday afternoon.

The win allowed the Hawks to a half-game lead on LaGrange for the fourth and final playoff berth from Region 1-5A. LaGrange’s game against Carver was not played on Monday after the death of Carver coach David Pollard.

With the game tied at 5-5 and with Jordan Manibusan on second base, a grounder was hit by Chandler Griggs to the Harris County shortstop, who threw high to first base.

Griggs rounded first base and drew a throw from the first baseman toward second base. Manibusan took off for home and beat the throw to the Harris County catcher.

With the loss, Harris County falls to 10-6 in the region, a full game behind Columbus for second place.

Hardaway plays at LaGrange on Tuesday. Harris County hosts LaGrange on Thursday.
