Local high school track athletes qualify for Saturday’s finals
Friday was a day mostly for qualifying in running events at the GHSA boys state track meet.
Northside’s Jonathan Myrthil qualified second in the 800-meter run in Class 5A with a time of 1-minute, 56.33 seconds. Teammate Tyrris Mitchell qualified sixth in the 200 in 22.25. Alec Tanksley qualified sixth in the 300 hurdles in 39.43.
The Harris County 4x100 relay team qualified sixth for Saturday’s final in Class 5A with a time of 42.52 seconds. Team members included Juan O’Neal, Jaylyn Richardson, Jeremiah Trammell and Tyreses McPhatter.
Spencer’s Da-Shae Hubbard qualified sixth in the 400 in Class 3A with a time of 50.0.
Hubbard was also part of the 4x400 relay team that qualified fourth in 3:26.14. He was joined by Ameir Abrams, Jermaine Hernandez and Ryan Williams.
Chattahoochee County’s Michael Guy qualified fourth in the 300 hurdles in Class 2A in 42.13.
