Gracie Deaton leads Central softball past Enterprise in regional opener
Gracie Deaton pitched a complete-game two-hitter to lead Central past Enterprise 5-1 on Friday in the Class 7A South Central Regional at Troy, Ala.
Allison Shiver and Shelby Newsome drove in two runs apiece.
Jadia Jones, Sara Castillo and Shiver had two hits apiece.
Central will play Auburn in the second round Saturday. Auburn beat Prattville 4-3 on Friday.
The Central-Auburn winner will earn a berth in next week’s state tournament. There will be one more state berth available as the loser will play the winner of the Prattville-Enterprise game.
The state tournament begins Friday at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala.
