Columbus High girls, Northside’s Isabel Rijos second in state tournament

The Columbus girls golf team was in another battle with Dalton. But this time, the Lady Blue Devils came out on the short end.

Columbus finished second in the Class 5A state golf championships on Monday at Westlake Golf Club. Dalton shot a 241, while Columbus shot a 247.

Two years ago, Columbus beat Dalton.

Amy Clark led Columbus with an 81, while Faith Scott added an 82 and Mary Catherine McDaniel had an 84.

Meanwhile, Northside’s Isabel Rijos finished tied for second on the individual scoreboard. Rijos shot a 4-over 76 and finished one shot behind the medalist.

The Lady Patriots finished 13th. Landon Cumbie added a 106, and Maria Caruso had a 109.

Harris County’s Chloe Wegienka played as an individual in the tournament. She shot an 83 and finished 12th.
