Morgan Academy hands Glenwood its first loss

Morgan Academy handed Glenwood its first loss of the 2016 season as the Senators used special teams and defense to spark the victory and raise their record to 4-2.

The Senators scored on a blocked punt, a punt return and intercepted three passes.

 

Key play: Morgan Academy blocked a Glenwood punt and two-way starter Gunnar Henderson picked the ball up and ran it in for a touchdown to give the visiting Senators a 20-0 lead.

Difference makers: Morgan Academy-Henderson at quarterback ran and passed for a touchdown, scored on the special teams play and ran for a two-point conversion.

Individual stats: Glenwood-Brandon Moseley, 6 carries for 87 yards and touchdown,103 yards passing on 15 of 29 passes, Kashe Boatner 8 carries-36 yards: Morgan Academy-Sam Bracken 14 carries for 152 yards and TD.

Coach quote: “We simply got our butts kicked,” said Glenwood coach Jason Gibson after the game. “ Morgan came out with a lot of energy and we need to take what happened and learn from it and get better. Things are easy when you are wining. Now we have to face adversity and see how the team will respond. I will know better Tuesday at practice.”
