Columbus volleyball set for state semifinal match
The Columbus High volleyball continues its quest for a fourth state championship Wednesday night.
The Lady Blue Devils will play at Blessed Trinity in a Class 4A state semifinal match at 6 p.m.
Columbus is the No. 4 seed, while Blessed Trinity is the top seed. Third-seeded St. Pius X will play at second-seeded Woodward Academy in the other semifinal.
Columbus is 44-11 with two of its losses coming against Blessed Trinity earlier this year. Blessed Trinity is 53-9.
Columbus won state titles in 2007, 2013 and 2015.
“We are prepared to go all out on Wednesday at Blessed Trinity,” Columbus coach Donna Fleming said after her quarterfinals win. “We play a tough road schedule during our regular season and we will rely on that experience to bring our best match on Wednesday.”
