Auburn Tigers land 2020 five-star running back out of Callaway High School

Auburn’s backfield will be a little more crowded next year.

Five-star running back Tank Bigsby (Callaway High School) signed with the Tigers on Wednesday. Bigsby, the No. 1 running back in Georgia and the No. 27 player in the nation according to 247 Sports, shut down his recruitment the week before signing day and picked the Tigers over Georgia, Alabama and others.

Bigsby rushed 700 yards in the 2A playoffs alone as a junior last season. He rushed for 2,221 yards his senior season, adding 22 touchdowns.

In his final game for Callaway, Bigsby finished with 228 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He had five runs of 20-plus yards — including a 70-yard score that appeared to spark a Callaway comeback — and looked every bit like the five-star recruit he has been hyped up to be.

Bigby, as of Dec. 13, was the top-rated player in Auburn’s 2020 class. He is the only five-star recruit in the Tigers’ class, which also includes four-star Troup quarterback Kobe Hudson.

Bigsby will join a crowded Auburn backfield that consistently rotated bodies in 2019. JaTarvious “Boobee” Whitlow, Malik Miller, Shaun Shivers, D.J. Williams and Harold Joiner all return next season, pending none of them transfer or declare for the draft. Miller is the only running back eligible to declare.
