Ledger-Enquirer names 2020 All-Bi-City Girls Basketball Team, players, coaches of the year

Fresh off a career season and an invitation to the since-canceled McDonald’s All-American Game, it’s clear to see why Olivia Cochran is the All-Bi-City Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Cochran led Carver to the Final Four, where the Tigers ultimately lost to state runner-up Troup. But Carver wasn’t the only area team to see major success in 2019-20.

Central made the Alabama 7A Final Four and Glenwood made the AISA state championship game, though neither could pull off the win. Several players’ efforts were rewarded, though, with spots on this year’s All-Bi-City team.

Here’s the full team:

Player of the Year: Carver senior Olivia Cochran

Coach of the Year: Central’s Carolyn Wright

First Team: Shaw senior Bre’Lyn Snipes, Carver junior Kionna Gaines, Hardaway senior Deyanna McKinney, Central senior Sierra Roberts, Harris County senior Zikeyah Carter-Ransom

Second Team: Central sophomore Jasmyn Burts, Glenwood senior Katie Suarez, Hardaway junior Ji’Mia Cobb, Brookstone freshman Taiylor Williams, Marion County senior Jameisha Williams

Honorable Mentions:

Central: Nya Upshaw, Evita Debrow

Harris County: Sidney Stewart, Jherni Carter-Ransom, Alexiah McMillan

Kendrick: Mersadies Sistrunk, Kayla York, Tyeesha Slaughter, Jada Williams

Brookstone: Emma Clark

Calvary Christian: Breanna Odom
