Former Glenwood football coach Tripp Henderson has confirmed he will be the next Russell County football coach. His hiring was approved Tuesday night at the Russell County School District meeting.
Henderson was head coach the previous two seasons at B.B. Comer in Sylacauga, Ala., where his teams went a combined 5-15. Prior to that, he was head coach at Glenwood for two seasons where his teams were a combined 18-5. He has been an assistant at Glenwood and Russell County.
Henderson, a Smiths Station native, said he was glad to be back in the area and was looking forward to getting to work with Russell County players.
“We know it's going to be a lot of hard work, but I've been here before as an assistant, so I know what it's going to take,” Henderson said. “I know the types of kids we have here. They're hungry and they want to get things right. We're willing to put in the work to do that.”
