While it was defense that once again saved the day for the Lions on Saturday in their 35-33 win at the Harrisburg Stampede, the offense did have some strong points.
Fullback Richard Fitzhugh scored his tenth and 11th touchdowns of the year Saturday, both on 1-yard runs, to bring his season point total up to 66. He has 112 yards rushing this season and is averaging 22.4 yards per game and, maybe more importantly, 13.2 points per game.
On the topic of points per game, Lions kicker Carlos Martinez accounted for 10 points Saturday. He entered the contest averaging 16 points per game and led the league in scoring. He was passed Saturday by Wyoming's Dante Dudley, who now has 78 points, three more than Martinez.
The Lions improved to 4-1 and sit atop the AIFA South Division with the Florence Phantoms (4-1), who handed the Lions their only loss of the season. The North Division's Reading Express also are 4-1 and the West Division's Wyoming Calvary remains the only unbeaten team at 4-0.
