The No. 1 Kendrick girls basketball team's perfect run came to an end on Friday evening as No. 7 Greater Atlanta Christian built up a first-half lead it held on to for a 60-36 victory in a Class AA quarterfinals game at the NorthWest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.
Kendrick (29-1) was 4-for-35, or about 11 percent, shooting from the floor in the first half and scored three points, each on a free throw, in the second quarter and trailed 36-12 at halftime. The Cherokees picked it up in the second half, scoring 17 in the third quarter and 15 in the final period, but could not close the gap against GAC (24-7).
Jazmin Thomas led the Cherokees with 10 points, and Brianna Cummings scored a game-best 16 points for GAC.
GAC advances to play in a Class AA semifinal game on Thursday.
