No school helps Central girls focus

Playing a high school basketball game at 1 p.m. is enough to mess up any coach's schedule but having a day off from school just before that playoff game must be a nightmare, right?

Not so fast, says Central coach Carolyn Wright.

"(Practice) was really good actually," Wright said her team's practice early Monday afternoon. "Probably one of our best of the season. We had as long as we wanted and the girls seemed really focused."

The 31-1 Lady Red Devils will need that focus when they take on 21-4 Jeff Davis at 1 p.m. in the AHSAA 6A Central Regional in Montgomery.

This is Central third consecutive trip to the Regional and the third consecutive game against Jeff Davis. The Vols have won the previous two meetings.

"We know that whoever we face we need to play well to win," Wright said. "For us it just happens that we're playing Jeff Davis. We just need to play our game."
