Carver defensive back Javontay Smith committed to East Carolina on Sunday after an official visit to the school over the weekend.
The Pirates offered Smith earlier this month after he de-committed from North Carolina. He had been committed to the Tar Heels for over a year, from Nov. 2014 until early January of this year.
Smith finished his senior season with 38 tackles, seven passes broken up, three interceptions and one defensive touchdown. He was named first-team All-Bi-City for the second consecutive season and was a member of the preseason Dandy Dozen team.
