Columbus High football sending two players to UGA Freshmen Day

Two Columbus High football players will attend the University of Georgia’s first ever Freshmen Day on Saturday in Athens.

Linebacker Xavier Billingsley and wide receiver RayLynn Thornton were both invited to the event, which will host the state’s top 50 players for the Class of 2019. They are the only players from the area to be invited.

According to a report from Rivals.com, Grayson High coach Kenyatta Watson, who helped pitch the idea to Georgia coaches, said that the day will include watching film with coaches, listening to a message from Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart and watching the team practice in the afternoon.

In addition to the two Columbus players, there was one from Callaway (Keondre Jones). Grayson led the way with 11 players, who will attend the event.
