High school roundup: Northside cruises to big region win
Northside got five RBIs from Seth Shadix and three from Drew Haywood to help it win 10-1 over Harris County in a big region contest.
The win gave Northside sole possession of first place, leading Columbus by one win. Harris County is in third, one game back in the loss column of both Columbus and Northside.
Overall, Haywood was 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs. Shadix was 2-for-4 with a double and five RBIs. In total, the Patriots recorded eight extra-base hits. Sam Kyte pitched a complete game for the Patriots to earn the win.

Columbus 10, Carver 0
Columbus scored five runs in the first and three in the second en route to a 10-0 win over Carver on Thursday at home.
Robert Kendrick-Holmes pitched a two-hit shutout over the course of five innings to get the win. He was helped by Jackson Mellenberg’s four RBIs. Ryan Anderson and Tristan Moran both contributed two RBIs.
The two teams play again on Friday at Columbus.

Shaw fell 9-0 to LaGrange on Thursday, dropping to 3-10 overall in Region 1-5A play.
LaGrange got two RBIs from Jake Farrar, who was also the winning pitcher, and one each from David Sweat, Ben Anderson, Larkin Easterwood, Matt Anderson and Champ Willis.
LaGrange is 6-5 in region play.

Alexa Shiver pitched six strong innings and Jadia Jones went 3-for-4 with an RBI to help Central hang on for a 5-4 win over Eufaula on Thursday.
Shiver got the win in the circle. Katie Webb also went 2-for-4 with a double. Gracie Deaton also recorded an RBI for the Lady Red Devils.

Brookstone boys, girls take second at meet
The Brookstone boys and girls came in second to Terrell County at a tri-meet on Thursday at home. Terrell County outpaced the girls 99-60 and the boys 98-51. Chattahoochee County came in third in both boys in girls, scoring 19 and 7 points respectively.
Brookstone’s Naeisha McClain came in third in total points for the afternoon with 10. Sam Ndem came in second in total points on the boys side for Brookstone, scoring 11.75. McClain won in the discus and shot put, while Ndem picked up a win in the high jump.

Girls Soccer
Stratford 5, Pacelli 0
The Pacelli girls soccer team lost to Stratford Academy 5-0 on Wednesday at Woodruff.
Stratford is ranked No. 4 in Class A. Despite the loss, Rita de Rojas had 30 saves in goal. Pacelli is 3-7 and will play next on Wednesday against Shaw at Woodruff.
