High school roundup: Glenwood girls soccer advances to state championship

Glenwood ran past Northside Methodist 10-0 in the AISA state semifinals on Friday in Montgomery.

Jordyn Wheeler, Whitley Anderson and Karsyn Floyd each had two goals, while Jenna Wilson, Teri Hodge, Lyndsay Daigle and Mackenzie Morefield scored one.

Glenwood is undefeated, 17-0, this year and will face Tuscaloosa Academy for the state championship on Saturday in Montgomery.

Tyler Pace hit a grand slam and drove in five runs to lead Northside to a 10-3 win over Harris County on Friday in Hamilton.

Pace was 2-for-4 overall at the plate. Chantler Valero, Drew Haywood, Seth Shadix, Chris Heinzelman and Marcus Eberhart each contributed one RBI. Hunter Hartshorne was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the loss for Harris County.

Northside improved to 11-3 in Region 1-5A play, good for first place in the region. Harris County fell to 9-5, third place.
