QB Romello Kimbrough transfers to Carver

Ledger-Enquirer All-Bi-City first-team quarterback Romello Kimbrough has transferred to Carver, the rising senior confirmed Thursday in a message to the Ledger-Enquirer.

Kimbrough, formerly of Jordan High, said that he began attending Carver on Monday and is looking forward to joining the football team for spring practice, which will begin on May 9.

Kimbrough, who had solid numbers as a sophomore in 2014, burst onto the scene as a junior signal-caller for the Red Jackets last season. He passed for 1,441 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions, but he had even more success on the ground as he rushed for 907 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The quarterback position for the Tigers is wide-open following the departure of Louisville-signee Jawon Pass, and Kimbrough has his eyes set on earning the job. He said in a message that he was “looking for big things” and “expecting to have (his) breakout year.”

Carver begins spring practice on May 9 and will put on pads on May 11. It will play an intra-squad spring game at 1 p.m. on May 19 at the school’s practice field.
