Errors costly for Brookstone in Game 3 loss to Calvary Day

Calvary Day knocked Brookstone out of the Class A-private school state playoffs with a 4-0 win on Saturday morning.

The Cougars managed just three hits against Rudy Amaya, who was the loser in Game 1 of the series in relief.

Meanwhile, Brookstone committed seven errors. All four of Calvary’s runs were unearned.

Trey Lingo has one of Brookstone’s hits. It came with two outs and one on the first. But the Cougars couldn’t come up with a two-out hit.

Calvary scored two runs in the top of the second as two infield errors led to the runs.

Calvary made it 3-0 in the fourth as a passed ball and another infield error led to a run.

Calvary scored it final run in the sixth, again with the help of an infield error.

Brookstone got its second hit of the game in the sixth as Preston Campbell singled after Walker Cottrell had reached on an error. But a double play ended the inning.

Sam Lowe led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, but Calvary turned another double play to stop the rally.

Drew Webb was the tough-luck loser for the Cougars. Webb gave up just four hits and walked five. He struck out nine.
