Central’s season comes to end with loss to Spain Park

The Central softball team saw its season come to a heartbreaking end in a 7-6 loss to Spain Park late Friday night in the Class 7A state tournament.

Central had scored a run in the top of the seventh inning to force extra innings and two in the top of the eighth.

Just three outs from staying alive to play again on Saturday, the Lady Red Devils gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Central took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Shelby Newsome sacrifice fly.

The Lady Red Devils took a 3-2 lead in the fifth as one run scored on an error and another on a Katie Webb single.

Spain Park scored single runs in the fifth and sixth to take a 4-3 lead.

Central tied the game in the seventh when Allie Farrow scored on a Spain Park error.

The Lady Red Devils scored a pair of runs with two outs in the eighth.

Tatyana Harris singled and Jadia Jones walked. They both scored on an error on a grounder hit by Allie Farrow.

Central had split its first two games on Friday, losing 7-2 to James Clemons and beating Baker 2-1.
