Evans Copeland lowest among locals at GSGA Junior golf championship

Brookstone’s Evans Copeland finished the opening round of the GSGA Junior Championship tied for 28th at Athens Country Club.

He shot a 5-over-par 75 for the day, leaving him seven strokes back of leader Justin Kim. Other golfers with local ties in the tournament include Columbus’ Jonathan Parker and John Calhoun, who both shot 7-over 77 and are tied for 51st, and Pepper Miller who shot 12-over 82 and is tied for 102nd.

The tournament will continue on Tuesday. It is the 50th anniversary of the tournament, which is being held at the inaugural location in Athens.
