Pacelli struggles in season-opener at Mount de Sales

Pacelli struggled in its season-opener Friday night, falling 48-6 at Mount de Sales.

Pacelli, which went 7-4 each of the past three seasons, finally scored late in the fourth quarter after recovering a fumble.

Michael Herrera ran in from 2 yards out. The Vikings missed the PAT.

Mount de Sales, which lost to Pacelli the previous two seasons and went 4-6 both seasons, was in control from the start and rolled up 342 yards of offense and 12 first downs in the first half.

Pacelli had 78 yards in the first half.

Adrian Hardwick was the star for the Cavaliers, rushing for 151 yards and three second-quarter touchdowns on just seven carries.

Quarterback Pinkney Gilchrist completed 6-of-8 passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns went to Chad Larkin, who had four catches for 108 yards.

Pacelli, which was starting the Buster Connally era, will travel to Crawford County on Aug,. 26 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
