Hardaway opens Michael Woolridge era on a good note

Hardaway opened the Michael Woolridge era with a 21-14 win over Troup on Friday night at Kinnett Stadium.

Jakobe Ellerbee scored a pair of touchdowns for the Hawks. Michael Gentry also scored by recovering a fumble in the end zone.

Key play: The Hawks’ Antonio Campbell’s second interception of the fourth quarter with 14 seconds left in the game at the 5-yard thwarted Troup’s comeback.

Key players: Campbell set up Hardaway’s third TD with his first interception. Michael Gentry recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Hawk’s to give them a 14-7 lead in the 4th.

Key individual stats: Hardaway—Jakobe Ellerbee ran for one touchdown and caught a pass for 38 yards for a second TD on offense. Troup- QB Montez Crowe threw for 271 yards and a touchdown.

Coach quote: “Our team overcame adversity tonight and our defense came through for us,” said Hardaway coach Michael Woolridge.

Player quote: “Coach told me to cover their best receiver and I read the quarterback’s eyes (both times) and the ball came into my hands,” said Hardaway’s Campbell.
