Kendrick looks to bounce back with more experienced team
Quick facts
Coach: Cedric Ware, second year; 3-7 at school, 3-7 overall
Assistant coaches: Donald Johnson, offensive coordinator, Tommy Casciaro, Demetrius McClellan, Jake Golden, Antron Murray, Kadel Jenkins
2015 record: 3-7, did not make playoffs
Region: GHSA 4-3A
Breaking down the team
The Good: It is Kendrick’s second year under head coach Cedric Ware, and things always go much more smoothly after one season for both the players and the coaches. Ware has a better idea of what he wants to do and how he wants to do it, and the players know the expectations as well.
The Bad: Can the team find a way to score some points? Last year, it averaged just 13.4 points per game, and 42 of their 134 points came in one close victory over Southwest-Macon. The defense had its struggles a year ago, too, but those were compounded by an inability to have much success on the offensive side.
Our take: This team will be better. The experience for the coaches and players last year was important, and there are quite a few returning players who can make a difference this year. The question is whether Kendrick has what it takes to steadily improve as the season goes along.
