Breaking down the team

The Good: It’s rare that a team struggling for as long as Russell County has can snag a coach with the experience and the pedigree of a Dwight Jones. Jones has a strong track record of taking over at similar schools and having success. Discipline and attention to detail will be the focus of this team.

The Bad: Right now, the biggest hurdle this team faces is itself. It’s tough to lose 22 straight games and keep coming back for more. The Warriors have to be able to handle the adversity as it comes — and it will come — and be willing to press on until they break through.

Our take: Can this team compete for the playoffs? That’s probably a bold prediction at this point. But it can compete. It can win a couple of games, it can improve and it can gain a little confidence to carry forward beyond this season. They must focuses on the little successes on a day-by-day, play-by-play basis.
