Ex-Columbus star Megan Clark makes pole vault Olympic finals

Megan Clark (Columbus High) qualified for the finals in the pole vault on a rainy Friday at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field.

Clark cleared three distances, the last two on her first attempts. The Duke track star cleared 4.40 meters (14-feet, 5 1/4 inches) as well as 4.35 (14-3 1/4).

She needed two attempts to clear the opening height of 4.25 (13-11 1/4). Clark hit the bar on the way up on her first attempt.

The qualifier started with 24 vaulters. and 14 advanced to Sunday afternoon’s final.

Those who qualify on Sunday will compete in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next month.
