CSU softball splits doubleheader against Armstrong State

The Columbus State softball team earned a split of a doubleheader against Armstrong State on Sunday in Savannah, Ga., with a 4-3 win in the second game.

The Lady Cougars lost the first game 8-0.

CSU needed to sweep Armstrong State and have Lander lose twice Sunday to earn a spot in the Peach Belt Conference tournament.

In the win Sunday, Elizabeth Perdue (Glenwood) hit a homer and two doubles and drove in four runs.

Kia Smith went 4-for-4.

CSU, which is 25-26 overall and 9-15 in the conference, will finish the season with a home doubleheader against Albany State on Tuesday.

Central runners win at Mountain Brooks Invitational

Central sprinter Karon Delince won the 200-meter dash in the Mountain Brooks Invitational on Saturday. His time was 22.23 seconds.

Delince also teamed up with Dru Daniels, Levon Anderson and Peter Parrish to win the 4x100 relay in 42.64.

Delince also had a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 (10.97) and long jump (21-feet, 9 inches).

Anderson had a runner-up in the 300 hurdles in 39.98.

In the girls meet, Samiah Love finished second in the 400 (57.82) as did Rachel Jackson in the long jump (17-0.5).

Love teamed up with Vennessa Frank, Monica McNeil and Kinadee Kinard in the 4x400 to finish second at 3:57.73.

Both Central teams finished fifth.

Pacelli girls soccer defeat Tattnall Square

The Pacelli girls beat Tattnall Square 4-0 on Saturday.

Kiley McKenna scored a pair of goals to lead the Lady Vikings.
