Good news and bad news from the Snake Pit today...
Veteran Brett Hammond was waived today and Sam Bowles activated off the 30-day IR. It's no secret that Brett hasn't had the year offensively that he, or anyone else, wanted. But make no mistake about his value to this team.
Brett is a leader in that clubhouse and the go-to guy on the penalty kill. Realistically, I don't think anybody will pick him up as most teams have their veterans set. With only three slots available, there's not a lot of room to maneuver. Hopefully, he'll stick around Columbus and maybe we'll even see him in a Snakes jersey again.
I, for one, am not ready to say good-bye to Brett just yet. A class act, for sure.
Though I'm on spring break from my job at CSU, I've been busy working on Snakes stories for the future. As I promised, sat down with Tom Maldonado and Bret Tyler today for my Friday story. Already planning my big playoff preview story. We shot the picture today and it's going to be awesome!!
Now for some late breaking news...
I'll not be in attendance at the Snake Pit for Friday or Saturday night's games. There...I said it. Have put off this announcement for as long as I can as I know ya'all will not take this news well. :) Of course, there must be a really good reason for me to miss...
My precious niece Joanne is getting married in Atlanta on Saturday. In addition to seeing Joanne become Mrs. David Snow, I'll get to see my mother, all of my sisters and my brother and their spouses, and a large number of my nieces and nephews. Reese will be the most handsome usher ever (sorry, Phil) and it'll be a wonderful family event.
If you see my replacements...my editor Kevin Price on Friday and John Carroll on Saturday...please make them feel welcome. See ya'all on the 24th!
