Hi, again, Snakes fans!!
Hope all of you are enjoying the off-season. Trouble is, it's not moving fast enough! A little more than 3 months to wait for the defending SPHL champion Columbus Cottonmouths to open the season. (time to start counting: how many times will I use that phrase between now and next April?) :)
A quick glance at the schedule, which should be in the Ledger-Enquirer tomorrow morning:
Season opener against the team the Snakes beat for the title: the Pensacola IceFlyers. Always liked to play them because I got to see my pal Todd Gordon. Not this season. Todd was dismissed and the new coach has already started cleaning house. Captain Dan Buccella was told his services were no longer required...not just to wear the C either. No space for fan favorite they called Bucky. Ouch.

Home opener on Friday,October 26. No Saturday game that weekend. Next weekend there are no home games at all, only a road trip to Fayetteville on Saturday. After the Nov. 3 game in Fayetteville, a Tuesday night game at the Snake Pit vs Knoxville.
No Thanksgiving and no Christmas. Fans have varying opinions on holiday games. Personally, I love the Thanksgiving games, but not Christmas, but that's only because of my family's situation. I have hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our house since 1978, when Larry and I married. Six for dinner that year and up to 26 ever since!! :) Love having my family all around me and then...off to the rink and hockey for dessert! haha.
Christmas is another story. My three sisters in Atlanta host that wonderful holiday, so I love not having to rush home for a Christmas night game.
How about you? What are your thoughts on holiday games?
Jerome and I are having lunch on Thursday to talk about the upcoming season. It's his turn to buy, so you know I'm looking forward to it. haha. New player signings on the horizon, I'm sure.
Planning the preview section already. Think it's going to be special and ya'all will really like it.
Let the countdown begin.
