Sporting KC acquire D Moises Mosquera from FC Juarez

Sporting Kansas City acquired defender Moises Mosquera from Liga MX side FC Juarez on Wednesday.

Mosquera, 25, signed a five-year deal through the 2030-31 season and will fill an international roster slot.

The Colombia international has made 109 appearances with Juarez (2023-26) and Portugal's Maritimo (2022-23).

"We are excited to welcome Moises to Kansas City," said David Lee, Sporting KC's president of soccer operations and general manager. "Moises has committed his long-term future to our club and he fits with our recent model of identifying players with their best years still ahead. He has experience at the highest level in Europe and in Mexico ... (and) has all the attributes of a modern center back with excellent athletic and physical characteristics combined with good technical ability that is critical to our style of play."

Mosquera gained experience playing in the U.S. during Leagues Cup action against MLS squads in 2024 and 2025. He scored his first professional goal in a 4-1 win at Charlotte FC last July.

Sporting KC entered the FIFA World Cup break in last place in the 15-team Western Conference, nine points below the playoff line. The team returns to action on July 16 at St. Louis City.
