Former Carver Tiger and NFL player Brentson Buckner has been hired as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive line coach. Buckner joins Tampa Bay after a five-year stint with the Arizona Cardinals, where he served in the same position.

Buckner heads to the Buccaneers after a strong run in Arizona. The Cardinals' defense registered at least 35 sacks each season under his watch, and the team posted double-digit wins in three of those years.

Prior to coaching with the Cardinals, Buckner was an intern with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, he spent two seasons as the head coach at Charlotte Northside Christian Academy in Charlotte, N.C.

Buckner turned to coaching after his long playing career came to a close. His time at Carver led him to Clemson, where he was an All-ACC defensive tackle as a senior. He was a second-round draft choice by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1994 NFL Draft.

Over the next 12 seasons, Buckner played for the Steelers, the Cincinnati Bengals, the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers. He played in two Super Bowls and called it a career after the 2005 campaign.
