Auburn fans eager to watch junior quarterback Jarrett Stidham on Saturday will be in luck. The only caveat is they will not see him in the A-Day scrimmage showdown.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said Stidham, who has been limited this spring due to shoulder surgery, will not play in the traditional intra-team scrimmage at Jordan-Hare Stadium. However, Malzahn explained Saturday's festivities will begin with a 10-minute 7-on-7 period in which Stidham will participate.

Stidham, who threw for 3,158 yards in his debut season with the Tigers, has been limited to footwork and light throwing after undergoing offseason surgery on his non-throwing shoulder.

“It’s been very good, and just (Stidham's) command when he’s out there feels different — which it should,” Malzahn said, according to The Opelika-Auburn News. “He’s a veteran guy. He’s like a coach on the field. Last year he was still learning the offense and learning (offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey), and Chip was learning him. It just feels different, and he’s got a very good grip on our offense and what we need to accomplish in the summer, too.”

Auburn's A-Day scrimmage is slated to begin at 4 p.m. EST/3 p.m. CST Saturday.
