Phenix City rehab hospital to have open house for expansion
Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in Phenix City will be hosting a community open house Oct. 30 for its recently completed expansion. The hospital is a joint venture between Columbus Regional Health and Birmingham, Ala.-based HealthSouth Corp.
The open house takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the 3715 U.S. Highway 280/431 hospital, across from the Walmart Supercenter. It will include tours and technology demonstrations. Appetizers will be served. Those wishing to attend should contact Cheryl Crow at 334-732-2229.
The hospital expansion includes 12 private patient rooms, with two of those bariatric rooms, as well as a larger therapy gym for the increasing number of patients at the facility. The hospital now has 58 patient beds.
“Through this expansion, we are grateful to better meet the demand and specific needs of patients in our community requiring rehabilitative care,” Michael Bartell, chief executive officer of Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, said in a statement. “We are grateful to play such a major role in changing our patient’s lives for the better through our services.”
Regional Rehabilitation Hospital treats people suffering from various illnesses and injuries that have caused disabilities, including strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, hip fractures, amputations and significant orthopedic conditions.
This is the second major expansion for the hospital that opened in 2003. It completed a project in 2010 that raised the bed count from 38 to 48. It generally serves 10 counties in east central Alabama and west central Georgia.
