Columbus job seekers invited to visit Lowe’s store on National Hiring Day

Columbus-area residents who want to get their foot in the door of a major home improvement retailer will have the opportunity on Wednesday.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s is holding its first ever National Hiring Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the store at 6750 Veterans Parkway in north Columbus among the locations inviting those interested to visit it.

The retailer said it hopes to fill more than 53,000 jobs at its more than 1,700 stores during the event, with the positions a combination of full-time, part-time and seasonal.

There will be meetings with hiring managers and a chance to take a tour of the warehouse-style business, the company said. Some prospects may receive offers on the spot for jobs that include cashiers, stockers, sales specialists and service and support managers.

Seasonal workers typically work between March and September in various areas to include lawn and garden, loading, stocking and assembly of goods. Lowe’s said more than 40 percent of its seasonal staffers ultimately moved into full- and part-time jobs a year ago.

Lowe’s is a great place to build a career, and we’re excited to host our largest-ever job fair to introduce people to our culture,” Lowe’s Chief Human Resources Officer Jennifer Weber said in a release. “We’re looking to hire customer-centric and service-minded people who are passionate about being a part of something bigger.”
