Man killed in head-on collision on Manchester Expressway identified
One person died Monday afternoon after a head-on collision near Manchester Expressway and County Line Road, according to Columbus Police Maj. J.D. Hawk.
Muscogee Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley said 55-year-old Flint Eugene Sharpe of Smiths Station, Ala., was pronounced dead at the scene at 1 p.m.
The cause of death was multiple blunt-force trauma to the head, neck and chest.
Worley said Sharpe was driving a Chevrolet Impala that crossed the center line and hit an 18-wheeler around 12:40 p.m.
Worley said Sharpe was wearing a seat belt.
The Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad Unit is investigating the wreck.
