Miss Southeast Georgia Alyssa Beasley crowned Miss Georgia 2017

The final acts of the 73rd Annual Miss Georgia pageant start tonight at 7 p.m.

Follow the competition live with the Ledger-Enquirer as women from across the state compete for thousands of dollars in academic scholarships and the chance to represent Georgia in the Miss America pageant this fall.

9:15- That’s the conclusion of the question portion of the pageant, the final event. The contestants were asked some tough questions about voter turnout, Russian meddling in the election, and even the Georgia campus carry law.

9:05- TOP FIVE FINALISTS ANNOUNCED: Miss International City, Miss Southeast Georgia, Miss Atlanta, Miss Cobb County, Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom

8:57- That concludes the talent competition. Now for one final event performance from Patricia Ford, Miss Georgia 2016. A standing ovation from the crowd.

8:53- To round off the contestants, playing the Hallelujah Chorus on the grand piano is Miss University of Georgia.

8:52- Miss Cobb County is up, singing the pop vocal “Proud Mary” as the crowd claps along.

8:50- Miss International City tap-dances across the stage to “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That.”

8:48- Miss Fitzgerald is up, with a soaring performance of “In His Eyes.”

8:45- Miss Stone Mountain with a soulful performance of “I’d Rather Have Jesus”

8:43- Miss Fulton County takes the stage for a Broadway-ready rendition of “Defying Gravity” from “Wicked.”

8:42- Miss Harris County sings a powerful rendition of the pop vocal “Listen.”

8:40- A twirling and tumbling lyrical dance message from Miss Southest Georgia for her talent performance.

8:36- Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom performs an energetic jazz dance en pointe.

8:35- The talent portion begins now, starting with a powerful vocal performance from Miss Atlanta.

8:30- Evening Wear competition is wrapped up. Here’s Miss Georgia 2016, Patricia Ford. “I just want to say that it’s been one of the biggest honors of my life serving as an ambassador for this state.” She says she has graduated from Georgia Tech, and is recently engaged.

8:23- Evening wear competition begins now—accompanied by some very smooth live music.

8:17- We’re back. This year’s Princess Program raised over $30,000 for the Miss Georgia scholarship fund. Miss Outstanding Teen 2017 used to be a princess. “I wouldn’t be here now without the Princess Program.”

7:54-Top Ten Finalists Announced: Miss Cobb County, Miss Fulton County, Miss Stone Mountain, Miss Southeast Georgia, Miss Fitzgerald, Miss Atlanta, Miss International City, Miss University of Georgia, Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom, Miss Harris County. A brief intermission, and we’ll be back.

7:52- The top 15 semifinalists are coming back on stage. Let's see which ten will stay in the competition.

7:46- Swimsuit competition complete. Time to meet the judges.

7:36- Annie Swan, new Miss Georgia outstanding teen, announced to the crowed by her predecessor. The crowd loves it. Swimsuit competition begins next.

7:31- Event MCs: $81,250 in cash scholarships were made available through the Miss Georgia Pageant

7:29- Georgia Cotton Marketing Award to Miss Heart of the South

7:26- Miss Georgia First-Timer award is a new award, a $500 scholarship, going to Miss Rockdale.

7:20 p.m. - SEMI-FINALISTS announced: Miss Atlanta, Miss Conyers, Miss Kennesaw, Miss Southest Georgia, Miss Harris County, Miss Historic Buford, Miss Fulton County, Miss Capital City, Miss Stone Mountain, Miss Fitzgerald, Miss International City, Miss Cherokee Rose, Miss Cobb County, Miss University of Georgia.

7:10 p.m. - An energetic dance performance as the contestants enter the stage in stunning red and pink dresses. The crowd is all smiles and cheers.
