Here’s your chance to grab a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts for less than a dollar

Special to the Ledger-Enquirer

For a sweet treat to end the week, Krispy Kreme announced that it will celebrate its 80th birthday Friday by offering a dozen original glazed doughnuts for 80 cents with purchase of any dozen at regular price.

“The joy created by our Original Glazed doughnut and its secret recipe spans generations, and that is certainly something to celebrate,” said Jackie Woodward, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, in a press release.

Krispy Kreme was founded by Vernon Rudolph in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1937. A brand quintessentially tied to the South (the original recipe was reportedly discovered scrawled on a piece of paper from a Louisiana chef), Krispy Kreme eventually expanded to include more than 1,300 retail stores in 31 countries, according to the company.

There are two Krispy Kreme’s in the area—one in Auburn and one in Columbus. The Auburn location is at 1611 Opelika Rd and the Columbus location is at 6761 Veterans Pkwy.
