Synovus sign replaces flagship CB&T downtown
Synovus Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kessel D. Stelling announced in March a plan to change the name of all of the company’s 28 banks including its flagship bank, CB&T which has operated under that name since 1930.
Sunday morning crews were working on a closed portion of 12th Street to put up a new sign.
A bright red Synovus can be seen from far away in its spot on top of the building.
At the time of the announcement, Synovus spokesman Lee Underwood said the biggest change for the name changing would be the signage.
“We will still be the same local team in Columbus and Phenix City, with the same local leadership, relationships and commitment to community that our customers have always known and expected,” he said.
The name CB&T remains on the side of the building for now.
