Columbus Hospice president/CEO retiring
The president and CEO of Columbus Hospice is retiring.
Mike Smajd is leaving the nonprofit organization after more than 24 years of service, according to a press release Tuesday afternoon.
He joined Columbus Hospice as executive director on Jan. 27, 1993.
The Board of Directors has named Chief Operating Officer Donna Morgan to replace him on an interim basis.
The release says that under Smajd’s leadership, the Columbus Hospice House on Moon Road and Alabama office were opened.
Columbus Hospice has a 15-county coverage area in Georgia and Alabama.
A drop-in reception in his honor will be held on Sept. 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Columbus Hospice House.
