USA Freestyle Kayaking National Championships returning to Columbus

For the second year in a row, Columbus has been chosen to host the USA Freestyle Kayaking National Championships.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Columbus Georgia Whitewater.

The event on the Chattahoochee River will again coincide with Paddle South, a celebration of the popular paddling location.

Competition will be in eight different categories.

The preliminary competition will be April 14 from 1 p.m. – 10 p.m. and the final competition will be April 15 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The Goldens’ Cast Iron BBQ Cook-off will be 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. on April 14 as will Omaha Brewery’s Craft Beer Garden.

Musical acts scheduled to perform include Jantavious Willis, Caleb Gambel & Big Saxxy, Neal Lucas and Blackberry Possum.
