Official: Plane makes ‘emergency landing’ in Harris County on I-185
A plane made a safe emergency landing Monday morning on Interstate 185 northbound in Harris County, according to an official with the Georgia State Patrol’s post in LaGrange.
There were no reported injuries.
Authorities were called to the scene at mile marker 27 around 10:43 a.m.
A GSP official said it’s a possibility that the plane ran out of fuel, but that the situation is still under investigation. The pilot’s name has yet to be released, but Federal Aviation Administration records confirmed that the plane is registered to a Jackson, Ga., man named Bruce England.
The FFA, GSP, Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the National Transportation Safety Board were investigating.
Traffic was moving freely on both north and southbound lanes after the landing. After the plane was refueled, the pilot used I-185 to take off and leave the area.
