Second suspect sought in fatal shooting of Warrior Cab Co. driver
Columbus police have named a second suspect in the shooting death of Dewayne Chronister, a Warrior Cab Company driver who was fatally shot Oct. 17 on Farr Road.
A warrant has been issued for Devin Trashawn Durden, 21, of Columbus, police Lt. Greg Touchberry said in a release. The suspect is known to hang out in the Forsyth Street, Fulton and Brown avenues areas of Columbus.
The second suspect is identified six days after police used a SWAT team to arrest Dontavis Paige Screws without incident on Oct. 19 at 2315 Forsyth Street. He is held on a murder charge in the Muscogee County Jail for a 9 a.m. Wednesday hearing in Recorder’s Court.
Police were called to 527 Farr Road to check on a person shot at the Parkwood Estates Mobile Home Park. Chronister was taken to Midtown Medical Center where he was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the head.
An ongoing investigation led to Durden. Armed and extremely dangerous, Durden is described as black, 6 feet tall and weighs 144 pounds. He has a tattoo that reads “RIP Byrd Savage Life,” and “Rip Cross.”
Anyone with information on Durden should call 911 or police Sgt. Lance Deaton of the Homicide Unit at 706-225-4267.
