Four people were transported to Columbus Midtown Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon after a police chase ended with crash on Buena Vista Road, Columbus Police Capt. Gordon Griswould confirmed.

The suspect, whose name authorities declined to immediately release, is still in the hospital being treated along with the two occupants who were in the white Nissan Altima he was driving. It is unclear if the lone occupant of the red vehicle that was struck is still being treated.

Griswould said authorities were given information around 10 a.m. this morning about a suspect with at least one warrant out for his arrest. A description of the vehicle suspect was traveling in was provided to police.

An official with the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations Unit spotted the vehicle in the area of Buena Vista Road in east Columbus. He tried to perform a traffic stop on the car, but the driver did not stop, according to police.

“I don’t know what speeds were involved,” Griswould said.

The chase ended when the Nissan crashed into a red vehicle on Buena Vista Road in the area of Lockwood Court.

“It’s my understanding, that he was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway,” Griswould said.

Authorities said it is unclear at this time if the passengers in the Nissan Altima will face any charges.
