Prostitute to undercover officer: ‘If we do it, we do it for free’
A Columbus woman told a Recorder’s Court judge that she agreed to have sex for free Tuesday with an undercover police officer.
Jazzmen S. Wolfe, 24, was arrested around 5 p.m. Tuesday after she entered an unmarked vehicle driven by the Special Operations Unit at 28th Avenue and Dawson Street. She was charged with loitering for the purpose of prostitution and held in the Muscogee County Jail. Judge Mary Buckner fined Wolfe $250 after pleading not guilty to the charge.
In her testimony, Wolfe said she was trying to get a ride to the store at 25th Avenue and Dawson Street when she was offered a ride. Inside the vehicle, she asked the driver if he was a police officer.
Officer Mari Menendez of Special Operations said Wolfe grabbed the driver’s crotch and questioned whether he was a police officer.
Wolfe testified, “If we do it, we do it for free.” She denied trying to stop anyone on the street.
The undercover officer refused to allow her to engage in oral sex and directed her to leave the vehicle. Members of the unit took Wolfe into custody.
Members of the unit also recognized Wolfe as having been charged with prostitution during the summer.
