Coroner says man shot to death in Columbus Sunday
Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley says a 21-year-old Columbus man died as the result of a gunshot wound Sunday morning.
Worley said the death of Cody Mathis is being treated as a homicide.
Worley said Mathis was pronounced dead at Midtown Medical Center at 7:42 a.m.
Worley said friends of Mathis delivered him to the hospital at 4:49 a.m. Worley was told the shooting took place in the area of 51st Street and 15th Avenue.
The body of Mathis will be sent to Atlanta for an autopsy.
