Man armed with knife arrested after robbing Wal-Mart, Opelika police say
A 24-year-old man was arrested late Thursday after he allegedly robbed an Opelika Wal-Mart, authorities said in a news release.
Rodney L. Bennett Jr. of Tuskegee, Ala. faces one count of first-degree robbery related to the incident. He was booked into the Lee County Jail.
Authorities were called to the Wal-Mart at 2900 Pepperell Parkway around 10:05 p.m. Thursday to investigate a robbery.
Employees said they saw a man conceal merchandise in his pocket. They escorted him to the loss prevention office, where he allegedly pulled a knife on them before running from the store.
Officials used canines to track the suspect in the woods near the business.
