Opelika police are trying to identify the woman who allegedly stole a purse left in a shopping car September 30 at the Wal-Mart on Pepperell Parkway.

Officials released store surveillance photos Friday morning show the suspect, who was described as a black woman last seen wearing eyeglasses, large hoop earrings, a red shirt and dark pants.

Authorities said a woman reported on Sept. 30 that she left her purse in a shopping cart in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 2900 Pepperell Parkway.

Anyone with information concerning the theft suspect is encouraged to call the Opelika Police Department’s Investigative Services Division at 334-705-5220 or the Secret Witness Hotline at 334-745-8665. Callers may remain anonymous.
